The name Fresi comes from “Fresa”, the Spanish word for strawberry, but also a colloquialism in Mexico for someone with refined tastes, high expectations, and an eye for detail. What began as an inside joke among friends—poking fun at our obsession with planning every last detail—became a perfect reflection of our approach to travel: meticulous, tailored, and elevated.
What started as a challenge to craft the ultimate trip for fellow oil and gas industry friends turned into an annual tradition. For our first itinerary—A Private Tour of Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam—we designed a 21-page guide packed with everything we wished we had on past trips:

After sharing our journeys online, we quickly became the go-to resource for friends, family, and colleagues. Questions poured in:
“Who arranged your trips?”
“Can we get a copy of your itinerary?”
“What would you recommend based on our budget and interests?”
The demand was undeniable. But it wasn’t until a private tour in Sintra, Portugal, that we had an aha moment: We should turn this passion into a full-time business.
After eight years of curating hundreds of travel experiences, we formalized our expertise and launched Fresi Travels LLC.

Travel and food have been my passions for as long as I can remember. Born and raised in Peru in a multicultural family with Peruvian and Japanese heritage, I was immersed in a rich fusion of cultures and cuisines. This exposure fueled my desire to experience firsthand how history and tradition shape local gastronomy around the world.
My passion for travel started early—aboard It’s a Small World at Disney World, I confidently told my mother that I would visit every country featured on that ride. A bold declaration at age six, but with 89 countries and counting, I think it’s safe to say I’ve kept my promise.
When I’m not exploring the world, I’m crafting incredible itineraries for others. My adventurous spirit and love for food have led me to seek extraordinary experiences—whether it’s being suspended in a capsule 1,300 feet above the Inca’s Sacred Valley, sipping champagne while watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat, sleeping in a Bedouin tent in the middle of Wadi Rum, fishing for piranhas in the Amazon, or trying the legendary (and potentially lethal) fugu in Japan.
My MBA from Rice University and over 10 years of experience in the oil & gas industry have equipped me with the logistical expertise and problem-solving skills essential for seamless travel planning. I thrive on finding creative solutions, ensuring that even the smallest details are thoughtfully arranged.

Exploration has always been a defining part of my life. From an early age, I sought out adventures beyond the familiar, drawn to new landscapes, cultures, and experiences. That passion has taken me across the world—not just as a traveler, but as someone who has lived in multiple countries, immersing myself in their traditions, languages, and ways of life.
My career in the oil and gas industry spanned over two decades, during which colleagues often joked that I “lived abroad but worked in Houston”—a testament to my constant pursuit of discovery. I earned my engineering degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, where I honed my problem-solving skills—an approach I now bring to designing well-planned, thoughtfully curated travel experiences.
